什么是Wi-Fi认证？
通过了Wi-Fi认证，您可以与任何地方的其它Wi-Fi认证产品建立连接，包括家中、公司、以及诸如机场休息室和咖啡馆之类的公共无线热点。Wi-Fi认证由Wi-Fi联盟管理，该联盟是一个非盈利性国际协会，专门负责对无线局域网产品的互操作性进行验证。目前，Wi-Fi联盟在全球共有202家成员公司，自2000年3月开始提供认证以来，已有604种产品获得了Wi-Fi认证。
不过，我个人认为WIFI验证就和那些什么“中华医学会”一些的认证是一样的，只要有钱，就能：）
无线设备之间能不能互相连接，最重要的就是看是不是使用的同一种网络协议。

现在主流的无线网络种类
我说些自己的理解，不抄袭别的网站的了，说错了，大家别见笑：）
一 .802.11b 速率11M 频率2.4G HZ
二 .802.11a 速率54M 频率5G HZ
三 .802.11g 速率54M和11M，能兼容802.11b，频率回复到2.4GHZ,不兼容802.11A
现在主流的是这3种，以前的老款还有一种2M的，就是802.11，后面没有任何字母，速率只有2M。
如果只是想共享宽带或者游戏，那802.11B的设备就足够了。
如果还想共享DVD或者经常拷贝大容量的数据，那可以使用802.11a的设备，但要考虑到：802.11a不兼容另外2种协议，所以也无法和那2种设备互连。
如果不急于购买、使用，那还是等待802.11g，我们也倾向于802.11g
速度上是802.11b最慢，但在当前的使用广泛性来讲，这是使用最广泛的，很多人中包括中国电信在推广的设备全是802.11b的，所以，如果你想在公众型场合或者在朋友聚会的时候充分利用你的无线设备，那802.11b是你现在为止最佳的也是最经济的选择。
802.11a从目前情况来看，可以说是2头不着边，不兼容802.11b是最大的缺点。还有5GHZ的频率会导致使用距离比802.11b还要短，而且价格比802.11b要贵一些。
802.11g是我们认为最值得期待的产品，可惜现在价格高高在上，而且看了TOMS站上的硬件评测，发现目前同品牌之间的802.11g设备没有任何问题，但在品牌不同时会发生兼容性问题。

关于无线以太网协会WECA（Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance）
WECA成立于1999年，是一个一个非赢利的组织，目的是对Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b) 产品进行互操作认证，在全球范围内推广Wi-Fi ——不同市场应用的无线标准。
WECA一直在研究一套测试手段，以使成员的产品获得认证测试，这样，就可以与其他具有Wi-Fi 认证的产品进行相互间的通信。独立测试实验室——Agilent位于硅谷的网络实验室进行相关的测试，当一个产品成功地通过测试，这个公司就获得授权使用 Wi-Fi 商标。
这个测试确保了带有 Wi-Fi logo 的产品将能相互通信。WECA的成员资格是向所有支持Wi-Fi标准的公司公开的，包括已经是成员的的制造商，他们想要提交Wi-Fi产品，进行互操作测试。WECA 目前有80个成员（详情见www.wi-fi.org）。
